American Mining Insurance Company Announces New Senior Vice President/Information Technology
John S. Huddleston has been appointed to the newly created position of Senior Vice President/Information Technology effective November 16, 2009. John previously worked for our Company in the 1990's and was instrumental in developing our ICAMS computer software. He comes to us from Forte' Incorporated where he served as Senior Consultant/Chief of Staff.

American Mining Insurance Company Announces New Senior Vice President/Chief Underwriting Officer
American Mining announces that Greg Barth has been appointed to the newly created position of Senior Vice President/Chief Underwriting Officer effective June 15, 2009. Greg most recently served as Commercial Markets Underwriting Manager for PMA Insurance Group in Harrisburg, PA. Prior to this, he was Resident Vice President for Harleysville Insurance. He began his underwriting career with Hartford Insurance and later worked for Aetna Life & Casualty and USF&G/St. Paul. Greg earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from West Virginia University. He also holds the CPCU, CIC, AIM, ARM, AMIM, ARE and AIS professional designations.

American Mining Insurance Company Announces New
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Claims Officer
American Mining announces that William "Bill" W. Schrimpf, Sr. has accepted the position effective April 1, 2009. Bill has been involved with American Mining as an attorney litigating claims in Pennsylvania since 1991. During that time he handled Workers Compensation Claims, State Occupational Disease Claims and Federal Black Lung Claims. He also assisted in general projects including Due Diligence issues in West Virginia, Kentucky and General Claims issues in several jurisdictions for the Company. In addition to this, he has been heavily involved with Risk/Claims management for several companies across the Nation.

American Mining Insurance Company Announces New Chief Actuary
American Mining announces that Ruth Howald has accepted the position of Vice President and Chief Actuary with effective November 16,2008. Ruth brings over 25 years of actuarial experience in varied Commercial Lines business, including Workers' Compensation.
She is well versed in pricing, reserving, product development, product management and strategic planning. For the last 18 years Ruth has worked for Zurich Financial Services Group in various acturial poistions in Baltimore, Los Angles and North Sydney, Australia.
Ruth is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society(FCAS) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries(MAAA). She also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.

A.M. Best Co. has upgraded the financial strength rating (FSR) to A+ (Superior) from A- (Excellent) and the issuer credit rating (ICR) to "aa-" from "a-" of American Mining Insurance Company. The ratings have been removed from under review with positive implications and assigned a stable outlook.
